A message from Aki- the founder of Basara
Don't worry everything.
You have many real friends.
You have the energy in your siprit.
You have big energy in your body.
Be walking everyday.
Walking, working, living, thinking,
everyday, everytime and everywhere.
---your Aki
The handwriting above is written by Aki Fuziwara who was the founder of Basara.
Her performance held the power to invigorate the withering soul and arouse a controlled society
To our regret and sadness she died in the fall of 1997.
The members left have respected her wishes
and continue to drum.
Never Ending Spirit

Aki.....
Summer soltice.
As your batchi struck the taiko,
It too struck my soul.
Warmed and ignited a place inside me,
A place that had been dormant.
And so I leapt into the beating world,
Each beat
A new emotion
A new challenge.
Then suddenly-
BOOM! BOOM!
It feels like yesterday.
It feels like 10 years.
Still I ask:
How can it be?
The gathered ones,
The lucky ones,
We here who,
shared your energy,
felt your anger
witnessed your stubborness,
admired your strength,
We here who knew you.
We carry your beat.
It flows through us.
